Masmovil adds over 500,000 clients in Q3, profits up 27% to EUR 152 mln

(Telecompaper) Spanish telecommunications provider Masmovil, the country's fourth largest network operator, reported service revenues up 20 percent year on year to EUR 1.27 billion in the first 9 months of the year after adding over 500,000 customers in the third quarter alone. Recurring 9-month EBITDA was up 27 percent year on year to EUR 428 million and also rose by 27 percent in the third quarter to EUR 152 million, with the quarterly EBITDA margin rising to 31 percent. The operator, which has recently been acquired by the Lorca Telecom consortium of buyout funds KKR, Cinven and Providence, described the results as "solid" and "in line with forecasts" in spite of the special circumstances arising from the pandemic.

(Telecompaper) Total Disney revenues were down 23 percent year-on-year to USD 14.71 billion, due above all to a USD 3.1 billion Covid hit in Q3 alone, although the company's media networks division, including cable and broadcasting, saw revenues for the quarter climb 11 percent to USD 7.21 billion thanks to higher advertising revenue and lower programming costs.

Vodafone Egypt acquires 40 MHz spectrum in 2.6 GHz band for USD 540 mln

(Telecompaper) Vodafone Egypt has acquired 40 MHz of 2.6 GHz TDD spectrum from the National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (NTRA), with a ten-year licence term through to 2030. Payments will be phased over three years, with an initial payment of USD 270 million upon receipt of the spectrum and two other payments of USD 135 million due in 2021 and 2022 respectively.
Telecom Egypt obtains 20 MHz spectrum in 2,600 MHz band for USD 305 mln

(Telecompaper) Telecom Egypt has announced that the National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (NTRA) has accepted and approved its financial and technical offer for additional spectrum that was submitted on 17 September. The company is expected to receive 20 MHz of spectrum in the 2600 MHz band, using TDD technology with a right of use of ten years for USD 305 million, of which 50 percent will be paid in US dollars upon signing the contracts.
T-Mobile to pay USD 200 mln fine for Sprint Lifeline abuses

(Telecompaper) T-Mobile US has agreed to pay the FCC a fine of USD 200 million after an investigation found Sprint was claiming federal subsidies for low-income households without providing the associated mobile services. T-Mobile assumes liability for the case following its takeover of Sprint earlier this year.
