(Telecompaper) The Netherlands has passed 3.5 million homes passed by FTTH, according to Telecompaper's FTTH Monitor. The number stood at 3.486 million at the start of October, and each month another 30,000 to 50,000 homes passed are added.

Agile Content makes recommended takeover bid for Edgeware worth SEK 291 mln

(Telecompaper) Swedish content delivery service provider Edgeware has announced a takeover offer from Spain's Agile Content and said its board unanimously recommends its acceptance. Agile Content is inviting Edgeware shareholders to tender all their holdings for SEK 9.70 cash per share, corresponding to a total of approximately SEK 291 million.

MTN Nigeria revenue rises 14% in first nine months, adds nearly 4 mln mobile subscribers

(Telecompaper) MTN Nigeria's revenue increased by 13.9 percent year-on-year to NGN 975.67 billion for the nine months to 30 September from NGN 856.55 billion in the same period of 2019. Service revenue increased by 13.9 percent to NGN 973.81 billion from NGN 854.94 billion in 2019. Mobile subscribers increased by 3.9 million to 75.0 million and active data users increased by 1.7 million to 30.7 million.

Netflix subscriber growth slows to 2.2 mln in Q3, still sees record FY net adds

(Telecompaper) Netflix reported a sharp slowdown in customer growth in the third quarter, to 2.2 million new subscribers compared to 10.1 million in Q2 and 6.8 million in the third quarter of 2019. The Q3 growth was less than the company's guidance for around 2.5 million new subscribers, which Netflix blamed on the stronger growth in H1.
UPC fined CHF 30 mln for refusing to share ice hockey TV rights

(Telecompaper) The Swiss competition commission Comco has hit UPC Switzerland with a CHF 30 million fine for abusing ice hockey broadcasting rights. UPC Switzerland acquired broadcasting rights in 2016 for games of the Swiss Ice Hockey Championship for the seasons 2017-2022. It refused to supply Swisscom with access to the matches for years, Comco found, adding that this practice is illegal under anti-trust law.
