Pork Checkoff Board of Directors to Meet in Des Moines

US - The National Pork Board will begin building its 2014 marketing, research and education plans during a meeting Sept. 4-5 in Des Moines, Iowa. Board President Karen Richter, a farmer from Montgomery, Minn., will preside over the Sept. 4-6, 2013 meeting that will include producers from across the country working with the Board to develop the 2014 Pork Checkoff budget.

Pork Checkoff Increases Commitment to Combatting PEDV

US - Following a unanimous vote by its board of directors, the National Pork Board has committed to investing an additional US$350,000 toward research, education and coordination of efforts to better understand Porcine Epidemic Diarrhea Virus, or PEDV. This increase in funding is in addition to US$450,000 announced in June, bringing total Checkoff dollars invested to US$800,000.
