U.S. EPA will provide grants of $340 million to New York State Department of Environmental Conservation and $229 million to New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection for improvements to wastewater and drinking water treatment facilities impacted by Hurricane Sandy. This funding will give both states capacity to reduce risks of flood damage and increase resiliency of wastewater and drinking water facilities as to withstand effects of severe storms similar to Sandy.
