In anticipation of a project award Serco are currently looking for a Payload Data Ground Segment SubSystems Implementation Support Engineer at EUMETSAT, Darmstadt, Germany. Package description Highly competitive salary Corporate Benefits Package Relocation Assistance if applicable Further information available from the Serco Europe Recruitment Team Main responsibilities This activity is intended to support the PDGS implementation cycle, i.e. covering the architectural design and elements requirements definition phase the implementation plan definition phase the Elements Industrial Procurement phase The following tasks shall be performed by the successful candidate Support to or preparation of the PDGS SubSystems implementation documentation Review of documentation from various sources Customer, Industry during the project phases dealing with subsystems implementation and testing. Management of the review item discrepancies, system or software problem reports and action databases linked to PDGS SubSystems implementation contracts Generation of technical notes whenever needed during the relevant project phases Operations of the various supporting software and tools either COTS or those developed inhouse e.g. DOORS , etc. Support to the acceptance of the CFI items provided by the project Active participation to Ground Segment reviews organized either by Customer or by Industry Active participation to PDGS SubSystems acceptance tests Ideal candidate The ideal candidate should bring the following skills and experience University degree or equivalent qualification, preferably in engineering or science related subject Project management experience, preferably in the field of Earth Observation Ground Segment Development Knowledge of the Earth Observation missions and instruments and processes related to their PDGS development would be an asset. Review, assessment and recommendation of supplier data from bid through design, manufacture and test to final delivery will be a prime task. Responsibilities Oversee unit and payload level manufacturing Support the definition of the unit and payload test activities and processes for data review for an unprecedented satellite production rate Review and approve test data for units and payload from qualification phase to in orbit test Support OneWeb communications payload design and development activities Participate in satellite test campaigns and delivery reviews to ensure that OneWebs requirements are fulfilled Manage contractor for timely resolution on communications subsystem technical problems Support new space infrastructure procurement tasks with all related industrialization activities Provide timely reporting to management for critical and routine activities Knowledge and Skills At least 10 years experience in communications payload design, manufacture and test from equipment level through to spacecraft level Solid understanding of how requirements flow down from payload design in order to interact with the system team in addressing noncompliances In depth knowledge of all technologies associated with communications payloads, including SSPAs, OMUX, frequency generator, onboard digital channelization and beamforming The analysis of supplier data and presentation of performance e.g. GT, EIRP, linearity etc Indepth understanding and handson capabilities for the testing of communication equipment, communications payloads and spacecraft The ability to discuss and contribute to the mechanical and thermal aspects of the payload in case of anomalies Provide leadership for communications payload developments for OneWeb programmes Good knowledge and understanding of satellite assembly integration test processes Excellent writing and reporting skills Excellent communication skills with people at all levels of the organization. Payload Data Ground Segment Systems Engineer

You will support a missioncritical payload data ground system providing satellite data products to meteorological services worldwide. You will be part of a small multinational team. You will work in a complex Linuxbased environment comprising a large number of powerful, stateoftheart server and storage systems. You will use and extend your experience on system level architecture, interfaces, data flows. Summary objective We are looking for a degreeeducated system engineer to work in a complex satellite data processing system. Our team supports the customer onsite in Darmstadt to process and deliver meteorological data to international users complete, in time and with good quality. Responsibilities Duties Performance monitoring and preventive maintenance to ensure continuous, complete and timely production and delivery of the products to the users Anomaly investigation, root cause analysis and Anomaly Reports handling this will also include providing recommendations for workarounds to mitigate satellite anomalies Support evolution of the software building, packaging, deployment, integration and testing in test environments and operational environment. Maintenance and update of operational documentations Perform technical analysis of system architecture and specification evolutions or major upgrades of the operational ground systems. Contribute to proposals, and to the IVV activities for major evolutions of the operational ground systems.
