ROLE DESCRIPTION SUMMARY The Spacecraft Engineer, Payload Subsystem will be part of the Payload Engineering team, leading payload inorbit operations and the design and implementation of innovative operational solutions for the SES fleet. In this position, our engineers will support satellite mission operations, enhance our performance monitoring and analysis toolkits, and contribute to dynamic endtoend design solutions. In our team, engineers develop and operate new payload missions, design contingency scenarios for satellite resiliency, and support new spacecraft procurement, launch and inobit test characterization. Over time, each team member builds a custom skillset and expertise, across a wide technical breadth, to make an impacting contribution to the success of our missions. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES KEY RESULTS AREAS Monitor health status and provide oncall support for satellites in operation, including recovery and followup of eventual spacecraft offlimit conditions, anomalies and service interruptions Ensure Customer satisfaction in line with SLA terms and maximize satellite fleet availability and longevity Support procedure development of payload mission of the current and upcoming satellites. Ensure lessons learned are applied Develop and maintain new integrated payload applications and tools required for performance monitoring, operation automation, resource optimization and constellation performance Act as Payload expert for other people in SES Group and to satellite users pertaining to satellite performance, support endtoend design solutions, and understand endtoend communications link budgets and infrastructure Support and prepare for spacecraft anomalies and contingency operations, including new operational solutions, for contingency operations at spacecraft and fleet level Support Payload mission, operations and phasing of the satellites into constellation Support Payload IOT, transition and phasing for Start of Service Support the design and procurement of new satellites, for spacecraft design reviews, integration, ground and inorbit testing Develop training material and provide technical training to internal Customers COMPETENCIES Have strong analytical and problemsolving skills Have a strong sense of initiative and a selfstarter attitude Ability to adapt to fastpaced or custom situations with innovative and effective solutions Ability to develop autonoumously new methods, applications mmeting new business requirements Ability to effectively respond to and interact with all levels of organizational staff Have strong communication skills, both written and oral, and teamspirit Be willing to integrate into an international environment QUALIFICATIONS EXPERIENCE Required Bachelors degree and 02 years of experience or Masters degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, or similar field a combination of education and experience will be considered Knowledge or experience in satellite payload subsystems, including the management all the equipment on board of the spacecraft that is required for proper transmission of the customer signal Experience with analytical programming languages such as Python, visual Basic, Matlab, andor Web Dev Knowledge or experience in Radio Frequency telecommunications Ability work oncall Preferred Experience with digital payload technology andor operations Experience with satellite operations or satellite constellation operations for LEOMEO Experience with web development programing languages Experience with data retrieval, data analytics, machine learning and artificial intelligence SES and its Affiliated Companies are committed to hiring and retaining a diverse workforce. Intermediate or advance in analytical programming languages Python, visual Basic andor Matlab and or Web Dev or any Web Development programming languages are a plus. Familiar with data retrieval, data analytics, machine learning and artificial intelligence Have a sound theoretical knowledge, and be eager to implement it in a practical environment Be able to provide 247 oncall support, react to contingencies and cope with high stress situations Have a strong sense of initiative and a selfstarter attitude Ability to adapt to fastpaced or custom situations with innovative and effective solutions Ability to develop autonomously new methods, applications meeting new business requirements Ability to effectively respond to and interact with all levels of organizational staff Have strong communication skills, both written and oral, and teamspirit Be willing to integrate into an international environment Have a thorough understanding of Digital Transparent Processor Design and Operations QUALIFICATIONS EXPERIENCE Bachelors degree in Engineering masters degree preferred, with a specialization in Radio Frequency telecommunications.
