Sugar production in Sindh might be affected badly as a huge amount of sugar growers' wages, amounting to Rs 500 million, were being held up by Sugar millers. Talking to Business Recorder on Monday, Sugar Growers Association of Pakistan's President Qurban Ali Shah, said: "Around Rs 500m are outstanding against sugar millers, forcing farmers to stop sugarcane farming for the next session because of shortage of resources."

Sindh major sugar mills stop crushing on price issue

LAHORE - Majority of sugar mills in Sindh have either stopped sugarcane crushing or slowed down this process due to, what they claimed, the high minimum purchase price of sugarcane fixed by the provincial government while price of sugar is not increasing for the last couple of years.
