U.S. stock-index futures were little changed, as investors assessed recent gains before the latest batch of earnings and a Federal Reserve meeting, with the Standard & Poor's 500 Index at a nine-week high. Among shares moving on corporate news, Valeant Pharmaceuticals International Inc. slid 8.8 percent, trimming an earlier drop of more than 14 percent.

Chinese shares zigzagged after data released Monday showed that China's economic growth decelerated in the latest quarter but relatively robust spending by Chinese consumers helped to avert a deeper downturn. The Shanghai composite index was 0.1% lower at 3,386.70.

NASDAQ to Launch Scrap, Iron Ore, HRC Futures

The NASDAQ Commodities Exchange is preparing to launch index futures contracts for U.S. shredded steel scrap and iron ore CFR China in November, followed by U.S. hot-rolled coil and other products in December. All contracts will be financially settled, meaning no physical delivery, against TSI Indexes.
