Support to Projects related to Radar Almetry

For our activities in ESRIN, we are currently looking for an expert in Radar Altimetry. Tasks and Responsibilities This task will support the Agency to monitor projects related to Radar Altimetry and to further stimulate the exploitation of ESA EO missions for Applications in, Oceanography, Continental Hydrology, and the Cryosphere. The Agency and partners have developed the SAR Altimetry estimator model and retracker for CryoSat and Sentinel3, coined SAMOSA, and further research developments projects are about to start to push this model to its limits or adapt it to non openocean surfaces coastal ocean, lake, river, ice sheet. Activities to be undertaken include Support to definition of requirements for products, software and tools Support to algorithmic development and validation Support to data analysis Participation to project reviews Review of project documentation during various project phases, raising RIDS and SPRs on deliverables Tracking of actions, RIDS and SPRs to ensure their resolution Generation of technical notes to support projects Prerequisites University Degree in Physics or in Software Engineering Experience in products and algorithms development Testing and validation experience Ground segment processor development experience Matlab, C, C A broad understanding of sensors on board ESA EO Missions, their geophysical products content and their applications, as well as a good understanding of Radar Altimetry sensors and products is an asset. Requirements Applicants should cover the following essentials Relevant experience in similar tasks Demonstrated ability to work autonomously Proactive approach to problem identification and resolution Flexibility Ability to plan and report Good writing skills in English Good team working skills Application procedure Important All applicants must hold a current valid work permit for Italy or be EU nationals.
