BT to reveal mobile plans this week - report
2015-03-23 09:18:00| Telecompaper Headlines
(Telecompaper) BT is expected to reveal during the week of 23 March how it plans to return to the consumer mobile market by offering deals to attract existing customers to TV, broadband and smartphone bundles. BT will use the mobile network of EE, the operator it has agreed to acquire for GBP 12.5 billion, under a pre-existing wholesale agreement. A number of competitive offers have been designed, mainly for existing customers, a person familiar with the matter told the Financial Times. Mobile services will also be available for people who are not yet with BT. The last time the operator was present in consumer mobile was before the demerger of O2 in 2002. BT is thought to be at least a year away from offering seamless call transfer. This would allow people to make mobile calls over their home Wi-Fi and not lose the call when they move out of range and the mobile network takes over.
