General Motors has headed off a potentially divisive proxy fight by agreeing to a $5 billion stock buyback that starts immediately and will close by the end of next year. The move announced Monday before the markets opened is part of a deal with Harry Wilson, a former member of the government task force that restructured GM coming out of its 2009 bankruptcy.

Westar Energy customers who want more of their energy to come from renewable sources could have as many as four options if the Kansas Corporation Commission approves. Westar filed a $152-million rate request with the KCC to pay for environmental work at the La Cygne coal-fired plant and safety upgrades at Wolf Creek Nuclear Generating Station.

Seattle real estate firm Redfin plans slow expansion in Hawaii

Residential real estate firm Redfin , which officially expanded to Hawaii with the opening of a Honolulu office this week, plans to gradually grow in the market, its Hawaii market manager told PBN. Currently, the firm, which opened an office at the Ala Moana Building at 1441 Kapiolani Blvd., has four agents, including Michael DeMello , market manager for Redfin.

Hundreds of people filled the Gunter Community Center on March 5th looking for answers from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality and Charley's Concrete about a potential concrete plant being built on State highway 289 just south of Wallace Road. The TCEQ said they plan to review the concerns raised at the meeting then draft their response.

Plans for yet another new pulp mill have surfaced in Finland. An unnamed stakeholder is considering building a pulp mill and biorefinery at Stora Enso's shuttered KemijA rvi facility, located east of Rovaniemi in the north of the country.
