Canada raises CAD 3.5 bln in 600 MHz auction, Rogers top bidder

(Telecompaper) Canada has raised CAD 3.47 billion from the auction of licences in the 600 MHz band for mobile services. In total, 104 licences were awarded to nine Canadian companies, including 40 licences to regional providers, covering the entire country.
Australia raises AUD 853 mln in auction of 5G spectrum in 3.6 GHz band

(Telecompaper) Four companies have won 5G spectrum in the Australian Communication and Media Authority's latest auction of the 3.6 GHz band. According to the regulator, all 350 lots available in the auction were sold, realising total revenue of AUD 853 million. Dense Air Australia won 29 lots for AUD 18.49 million; Mobile JV, the joint venture of TPG Telecom and Vodafone Hutchison Australia, won 131 lots for AUD 263.2 million; Optus won 47 lots for AUD 185 million; and Telstra won 143 lots for AUD 386 million. Licences won at auction will commence in March 2020 and will run until 13 December 2030.

Mexico raises MXN 44 bln in 2.5 GHz auction; Telefonica, AT&T winners

(Telecompaper) Mexico's telecommunications regulator IFT said it awarded 120 MHz of spectrum in the 2.5 GHz band for use in LTE and 5G services to AT&T and Movistar (Telefonica), the only two participants in the auction. The 20-year licences, sold in six blocks, are expected to generate a total of MXN 44.4 billion for the Mexican state over their lifetime, IFT said in as statement.

Spanish 5G auction raises EUR 438 million

(Telecompaper) Spain's auction of 200 MHz of spectrum in the 3.6-3.8 GHz band for 5G use reached total bids of EUR 437.7 million, more than double the minimum EUR 200 million required, the Economy Ministry announced. Including accumulated interest payments over 20 years of EUR 542.1 million, plus spectrum-reservation fees of EUR 868.5 million, the grand total raised by the Treasury is expected to be EUR 1.41 billion.
