The letter was part of a debate about the future use of C-minus started at an Oct. 6 Faculty Senate meeting.

Orady, PhD, professor of manufacturing, University of Michigan-Dearborn; and Patricia Polastri, PhD, assistant professor, Texas A&M University-Kingsville. Award recognizes advisors for their service to SME, and their overall efforts to create, revitalize, and maintain chapters that let students see how worthwhile an education and career in manufacturing can be.

SME named 3 of its student chapter faculty advisors – Eric McKell, Elsayed A. Orady, and Patricia Polastri – as its 2015 Distinguished Faculty Advisors. This is in recognition for service to SME as well as overall efforts to create, revitalize, and maintain chapters that offer students opportunities to see benefits of manufacturing education and careers. Given to each advisor, $1,000 award will go towards supporting student chapter activities and/or professional development opportunities.
