AT&T claims world's first mobile 5G mmWave connection

(Telecompaper) AT&T made what it calls the world's first wireless 5G data transfer over millimetre wave using standards-based, production equipment with a mobile form factor device over the 8-9 September weekend, in Waco, Texas. The US operator also announced that it plans to introduce mobile 5G in parts of five additional cities, Houston, Jacksonville, Louisville, New Orleans, and San Antonio, in 2018.

Dutch mobile service revenues fall 8.2% in Q2, led by Vodafone

(Telecompaper) The Dutch mobile market generated service revenues of EUR 938 million in the second quarter, down 8.2 percent from a year earlier, according to the latest quarterly report from Telecompaper. The decline was similar to the first quarter, hurt by regulation, price pressure and tough competition. Tele2 and KPN gained market share year-on-year, while Vodafone's share declined.

It analyses second quarter 2018 results, both revenue and subscriber base, and compares the findings with results in the previous quarters and year. The report provides splits at different levels, from postpaid to prepaid but also from a network operator to retail point of view. Additionally it also includes a five-year forecast (both network operator service revenue and mobile SIMs) for the Dutch market.
