Description The main task of the consultant will be the maintenance and further development of the operational MSG Image Processing Facility IMPF software, in particular, the algorithm and data processing aspects of the IMPF software. In addition, the consultant may also support development activities of the MTG and EPSSG Programmes. Primarily these development activities will focus on the Image Navigation and Registration processing, which is part of the mission instrument data processing. Both online and offline functions development are part of these activities. Typically, the tasks of the Consultant will include MSG Operations Support Developing an expert knowledge of the MSG Image Processing System. Profile In addition to having a University degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline, such as remote sensing, physics, aerospace engineering or computer sciencesoftware engineering, the Consultant shall have very strong C and mathematical skills and at least five years recent experience in Objectoriented system design. Furthermore, it would be a distinct advantage for the Consultant to have experience with some of the following Realtime image processing of large volumes of data. Description The key person shall work in the TSS Department with the Mission Control Applications and Tools Team, which is part of the GSI Division. The Mission Control Applications and Tools Team performs the following activities Software engineering and software maintenance of multimission and missionspecific Mission Control Function systems and tools for GEO and LEO missions. In particular the following systems and tools o Monitoring Control Systems and tools, o Onboard software management tools, o Flight Dynamics Facilities, o Mission Planning Facilities, o OpsPrep Facilities, o Data analysis and reporting tools, Software engineering for the reusage of Mission Control Function systems and tools with the separation between generic kernel and missionspecific extensions. The tasks of the key person will typically include Maintenance and Evolution Activities o Preventive and corrective maintenance including the investigation and correction or following the corrections implemented by external contractors of anomalies in the software facilities and verification testing of the fixes. o Evolutions and changes generation andor analysis of userdriven and maintenancedriven software requirements, software design of the technical solutions, following the procurement of the changes with external contractors and verification testing of the changes. o Maintenance test procedures generation and updates of maintenance test procedures at software facility level and at system level. o Support and development of the verification infrastructure development andor procurement of scripts tools to perform installation checks, nonregression, functional and performance testing. Analysis and implementation of mechanisms or tools allowing the automatic or semiautomatic verification testing of the application software. o Coordination of the production of new software releases or patches, delivery acceptance and installation onsite. This activity includes the technical coordination of the production by an external contractor of new releases or patches of the application software, liaison with the clients operational users, participation to technical reviews, participation to infactory at contractor premises acceptance testing campaigns and coordination of the installation of the releases or patches onsite at the client. o Execution and coordination of software verification and nonregression testing campaigns. This activity includes preparation of test data, running the test procedures on the target system, generation of test reports, analysis of results and troubleshooting of problems. User Support o Software support software support to the endusers of the application software. o Ensure operations continuity by provision of oncall services and software support to operations. o Training prepare and provide training covering systemusage and maintenance aspects of the mission control systems. Profile In addition to having a University degree in a relevant engineering discipline, the key person shall demonstrate significant knowledge and experience in the area of simulator software maintenance, evolution and testing as well as space segment requirements and design with the following mandatory areas 1. Domain Skills Experience minimum 3 years in software maintenance and evolution of Spacecraft Simulators based on SIMULUS software suite from ESAESOC. In particular, experience in all the following SIMULUS components is considered mandatory SIMSAT, Ground Models, Generic Models, REFA, Emulator Suite and tailoring, UMFEGOSMF. Experience minimum 3 years in the definition and design of SMP2 compliant software models of spacecraft service platform subsystems DHS, AOCS, Thermal, Electrical,.... Knowledge and understanding with actual working experience of space related standards ECSS and CCSDS with specific reference to ECSSE7041A TM and TC packet utilization. 2. Software Development Maintenance Skills Experience minimum 3 years in the full cycle of development of application software for SIMULUS based simulator, following formal software engineering processes. This includes system requirement analysis, software requirement engineering, software design and implementation reflecting maintenance activities as well as new applications definition. Experience minimum 3 years in corrective maintenance, integration and verification testing activities of application software following formal software engineering processes.
