We are currently looking for a 3MI Scientific Consultant to support our customer in Germany. 3MI Scientific Consultant Key Tasks and Responsibilities Our customer is a European organisation providing weather and climaterelated satellite data, images and products for its users. In this roleyou will have the following responsibilities Development of algorithms for calibration of 3MI level 0 data with a particular focus on vicarious calibration techniques Development of prototype software code for the purposes of testing and validation the algorithms developed Development of an instrument performance model based on specifications to be provided by industry Generation of test data required for the verification of the algorithm and products Generation of associated documentation including test data descriptions, Product Generation Specification PGS, technical reports etc. Collaboration with expert groups and the wider scientific community Provision of support to algorithm, and potentially prototype software development activities, for future level 2 product development for the 3MI instrument. Skills Experience You will have the following qualifications and relevant experience University degree in meteorology, atmospheric physics, remote sensing, or equivalent Several years experience in the field of remote sensing in the optical spectrum Experience in radiative transfer Familiarity with instrument calibration and characterisation Familiarity with Earth observation systems in operational meteorology, atmospheric composition and climate monitoring Handling and processing of remote sensing data Very good skills in a higher programming language e.g. Fortran, C Excellent interpersonal and communication skills both verbal and in writing Fluency in English is mandatory the knowledge of French will be an advantage. Senior Earth Observation Consultant J 2603 Summary A senior technical member of staff, recognised as an expert in their field and providing significant support in winning business. Objective Telespazio Vega intends to expand its commitment to developing EO data driven applications and services to be applied both in the commercial domain such as oil alternative energy and in governmentalscientific areas such as climate change scientific exploitation platforms. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate an expert technical knowledge of at least one area of EO data analysis. Due to the close relationship between Telespazio Vega and our parent company, there is an expectation that exploitation of SAR data will be a significant but not sole driver in the activity. The candidate will be able to construct teams for and lead bids aimed at providing eitherboth themed EO scientific exploitation platforms andor commercial EO services. Recognised leadership in one of these fields would be a distinct advantage. We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic senior self starter to work in close support with our sales team, prepare proposals, startup and execute projectsstudies and contribute to new and ongoing EO related services.
