Future PayloadInstrument Engineer

Client and Location For one of our main customers ESAESTEC, we are currently looking for Future PayloadInstrument Engineer, giving support to the future Missions Office and Prodex Office, onsite at ESTEC. Tasks and Responsibilities Within the SCIF Future Missions Department, the PRODEX Office is the Agency structure in charge of implementing the PRODEX Programme. The PRODEX Office implements experiments and instruments prepared at national level, selected andor endorsed by ESA in accordance with its own rules and procedures, for ESA missions or for National missions. The PRODEX Office coordinates the experiment development and implementation, awards industrial contracts and implements, manages and monitors the corresponding industrial developments. The specific tasks covered by the Future PayloadInstrument Engineer are Design of analogue and digital electronics in support of various payload instrument validation activities with a particular emphasis on detector readout electronics Manufacturing and test of electronic circuits, Supporting electronic system, components and electrooptical sensor characterisations in the sections laboratories Development of firmware and instrument control and readout software Supporting the development and maintenance of the technical infrastructure needed to validate payload technologies Evaluation of proposals in response to calls for missions, participation in reviews, payload expertise in support of system studies Experience and education Academic qualification in electronics engineering complemented by several years of handson project or industrial experience in the design, engineering, performance analysis and testing of electronic circuits, preferably in the space domain In particular, expertise in lownoise analogue, highspeed digital techniques and mixedsignal circuits is mandatory Handson experience with such electronic designs and relevant CAD and simulation tools is required Good knowledge of sensor technologies covering wavelengths ranging from IR to gammarays, electrooptical characterisation, cryogenics, and or the design considerations for spacebased payloads would be an asset Creative and have very good problemsolving skills Support will be provided in a small team, hence the candidate should also be flexible and able to multitask Good interpersonal skills and ability to communicate and cooperate with a wide range of staff internally and externally. We are currently looking for a Future Projects System Engineer to support our customer in the Netherlands. Future Projects System Engineer Key Tasks and Responsibilities As part of the Engineering and Scientific Support Team, you will have the following responsibilities Providing inputs and support to the definition of the programme of work for the development of the experiments within the scientific institutes Supporting the preparation, implementation and monitoring of the research agreements between the Institutes and the PRODEX Office Assisting in the preparation, implementation and monitoring of industrial contracts Providing inputs to the preparation of Tender Documents, participating in proposal evaluations, prepare inputs to subsequent contract negotiations, monitor the endtoend development of the activities contracted to the industrial consortia Monitoring the technical, schedule and financial status of the developments assigned, identify potential problem areas and recommend solutions Liaising between scientific institutes and industry when contracts are running Interfacing internally with the project teams or specialists on technicalprogrammatic matters and with the administration regarding the financial and contractual matters Providing Management and Programmatic inputs to the Head of PRODEX Office as required Preparingproviding inputs to reports as required Assisting with the administrative tasks related to the office, experiment and project implementation. Skills Experience You will have the following qualifications and relevant experience University degree in physics or space engineering Demonstrable experiences in space instrumentation development, including system engineering experience in the design, definition, manufacturing and test of Space Scientific Instruments Demonstrable experience in interacting with scientific institutions and industry Experiences with project management Knowledge of project control principles an asset Ability to be systemoriented and to integrate several inputs into one solution Fluency in English is mandatory knowledge of another European language is an advantage.
