Inside of the GalileoProject in our engineering team we offer the following career opportunity L2 IT Maintenance Engineer Your Mission As a core team member of the Galileo Service Operator GSOp, DLR GfR mbH operates and manages the constellation of Galileo satellites from the Galileo Control Center in Oberpfaffenhofen in Germany GCCD. The Maintenance Engineering team inside the Galileo Project is the driving force behind the staggered implementation of the Level 2 and Level 3 maintenance of the Galileo Ground Infrastructure Galileo Mission Segment, Galileo Control Segment, GNSS Service Center, Galileo Security Monitoring Center and we are about to take off with the most ambitious program yet. As L2 IT Maintenance Engineer, you will be responsible to work on corrective, preventive, adaptive and perfective maintenance activities for the Galileo IT maintenance, validation and operational environments. You will be in the leading team for the handover of the maintenance activities from the design authority to GSOp. You will support the evaluation process of software and the set up of system environments to provide the operations teams of GfR the best working environments and a reliable system they can develop on this great project. Responsibilities Within 6 months Autonomously perform all IT maintenance procedures of the ground segment manual Deliver the L2 maintenance training need analysis and training plan Support the major Ground Infrastructure Releases incorporation activities Support the IT design of endtoend integrated maintenance and troubleshooting environments for Galileo systems Actively support all milestone reviews related to the L2L3 maintenance handover. In 12 months Mentor new L2 maintenance engineers Write and validate troubleshooting procedures for the Galileo Control Segment Support OPSL1 and L3 teams for problem management, system restoration, vulnerability management and handling of security incidents Support the continuous service improvements initiatives and implement knowledge management approach Provide inputs to Service Asset and Configuration Management activities, including maintaining the configuration via the provided tools. In two years, you will deliver L2 maintenance services activities for the Galileo Ground Control Segment, in close cooperation with system experts and operations teams. Overview The successful candidate will have the opportunity to Contribute to the establishing of the programmatic and technical software PA requirements within the framework of the ESA Software policy. Evaluate Contractors plans, technical specifications and efforts proposed for the execution of the software product assurance programme. Monitor and evaluate software product analyses, reports and technical notes. Participate to project reviews, meetings, Configuration Control Boards, Nonconformance Review Boards and Software Review Boards. Prepare design tradeoffs, analyses and reports using metrics to support project decisions. Participate to software product evaluations and process assessments. Establish and maintain databases to track NCRs, RFWs, action items etc. as required. Specific qualification Requirements Masters degree in software engineering or computer science with background on space engineering. Familiarity with space product assurance practices together with a good working knowledge of appropriate working tools. Practical experience in applying ECSS software standards. Configuration management of complex systems. Software engineering and PA in critical applications. Agile practices e.g. Scrum Master Product Owner other Agile frameworks as SAFE, Lean or Kanban. Quality assurance for Machine Learning models. Big Data software architectures and life cycles. Data quality assurance. Cybersecurity assurance, security evaluation and certification, ISO27001. Handson experience with static code analysis and tools. Alternative software development life cycles, continuous integration and tools. Fluency in English both written and spoken is mandatory knowledge of another European language is an advantage. Legal and Security Requirements All applicants must be legally allowed to work in The Netherlands Applicants are required to provide a copy of their passport and degree certificate. Aurora will validate the Degree with the issuing University and provide evidence to ESA. Location The work will be performed at the European Space Technology and Research Centre ESTEC at Noordwijk, The Netherlands. Contract The selected candidate will receive good remuneration in line with ESA Job Class. Will be registered for both social security and tax in the Netherlands. The standard working hours are 40 per week. There are 12 public holidays and an additional 30 annual days holiday.
