Port Authority spokesman Chris Valens says PATH trains were suspended about 8 p.m. Friday between Journal Square in Jersey City and the World Trade Center in New York because of the PSEG outage. Valens says he's not sure how long the outage will last.

Canadian National Railway now says that 35 cars, not 33, with one carrying dangerous goods, went off the tracks near Raymore, Sask. The derailment happened at 9:45 a.m. CST Friday, just west of the town about 110 kilometres north of Regina.
MTA requests $300M from feds to boost L train capacity

L train ridership is up 98% since 1998, and the MTA has asked the feds for $300 million to increase service. Brooklyn is so hip that the MTA is seeking $300 million from the federal government to increase service on the jam-packed L train, officials said on Friday.

Public banned from coal train meeting in N. Idaho

City officials in Sandpoint are defending banning the public from a meeting about oil and coal train traffic attended by three area mayors, a state senator, county commissioner and officials from the Idaho Department of Environmental Quality. Sandpoint Mayor Carrie Logan told the Bonner County Daily Bee that the meeting Thursday was for information only and no actions were taken.
