California Trucking Group Urges Governor to Engage Stakeholders in Freight Plan

The California Trucking Association has urged Gov. Jerry Brown to closely collaborate with freight and industry stakeholders on a plan meant to shift to zero-emissions technologies and help boost freight connectivity along the state's commercial network. "As the state contemplates more costly new emissions targets, it must consider the economic impact to the trucking industry," the association wrote on July 17. "Trucking is currently, and is projected to remain, the primary mode of goods movement in California."

Freight train kills pedestrian at Lake Forest depot

A Canadian Pacific freight train struck and killed an 87-year-old man in Lake Forest on Thursday afternoon, officials said. Police and firefighters responded to a call at 1:54 p.m. at the West Train Depot, 911 S. Telegraph Road, where they found a man dead on the tracks, according to a release from Lake Forest police.

Trucking's getting a breather with weakening freight demand: FTR

Capacity utilization has dropped to a more normalized 95% and the impact of regulatory drag on truck capacity has decreased, according to Noel Perry, truck and transportation expert for industry analyst FTR. He was speaking during FTR's free State of Freight Webinar today on Key Transportation Issues.
