ABF Freight driver receives prestigious national trucking industry award

Ralph Garcia, a driver for Fort Smith-based ABF Freight System, has received the Mike Russell Trucking Image award from the American Trucking Associations', one of the top honors in the national trucking sector. Garcia, who lives in Rio Rancho, N.M., began his career as a professional truck driver more than 37 years ago and since then has accumulated more than 3.5 million accident-free miles.

Union Pacific Freight Train Derails in Texas on Flooded Tracks

A Union Pacific freight train carrying cement derailed in Texas on Saturday as flood waters covered the tracks about 55 miles south of Dallas, putting locomotives and some of its rail cars on their side, according to a company spokesman and TV footage. The two crew members operating the train swam to safety after the derailment, Jeff DeGraff, a Union Pacific Railroad spokesman, told CNN.
