Some real estate agents have had to cancel open houses because of the 8 feet of snow that has fallen over the past few weeks. Others have had to brace prospective buyers for tours of homes showing the ravages of this year's winter, including leaky walls and ceilings from a buildup of ice on the roof.

Rail line causes enless headaches

In response to the Jan. 15 article "CN Railroad no 'problem child, CEO insists", I have to say that Canadian National Railroad is not only the child of a problem, it's the cause of a massive headache. Canadian National Railroad's CEO Claude Mongeau told the Daily Herald that since CN bought the Elgin Joliet & Eastern Railroad in 2008 and has been allowed to have its trains go through Lake County, it has been "a responsible party," but sir, I have to disagree with that.
