The Metropolitan Transportation Authority is celebrating the 110th anniversary of the New York City subway system with two days of opportunities for the public to take the train as generations of customers have done in the past. The first subway line, which connected City Hall with Harlem, opened on Oct. 27, 1904.

Oscar de la Renta, the renowned fashion designer who died on Monday at the age of 82, will be buried at a private funeral in New York early next month.
