TCL unveils new foldable concept phones with rollable display, dual hinges

(Telecompaper) TCL Communication Technology has unveiled new foldable concept phones. These include a rollable Amoled display that can extend the size of the phone's screen, and a double-hinged device that can expand a smartphone to the size of a tablet. No pricing or launch details for the devices were announced.

Motorola adds new smartphones to portfolio, passes 100 mln moto G phones sold globally

(Telecompaper) Motorola is celebrating 100 million Moto G smartphones sold around the world with the introduction of two new devices in the US and Canada, the Moto G Stylus and Moto G Power. Both feature Android 10, a 6.4-inch Max Vision display, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 octa-core processor, 4 GB of RAM, dual stereo speakers and selfie cameras with Quad Pixel technology.

Xiaomi spins off Poco brand, to launch more premium phones in India

(Telecompaper) Xiaomi said that Poco, the sub-brand it unveiled in the summer of 2018, is now an independent company, TechCrunch reported. Xiaomi VP Manu Kumar made the announcement, saying Poco had grown into its own identity and that it was right to let the secondary brand operate on its own. Xiaomi did not specifiy now Poco was spun off or how it would be structured.

Privacy Int'l, 50 organisations ask Google CEO to remove bloatware from Android phones

(Telecompaper) Privacy International and a group of 50 organisations requested Google's CEO Sundar Pinchai in a letter to remove pre-installed apps that cannot be deleted from devices made by partners who use the Android trademark and branding. These apps leave users vulnerable to their data being collected, shared and exposed without their knowledge or consent, the letter's authors said. The organisations also asked Google to introduce new OEM rules for Android bloatware.
