Feeder cattle prices start to drop

Feeder cattle were up to $5 lower on 7-weight steers, but cow prices held steady as cow meat prices firmed.

The spot cash market for fed cattle was steady to $1 lower while the weighted average price was slightly lower than last week.

The cash market for fed cattle was $2-$4 lower and total cash sale numbers were 35,000 head higher than the previous week.

More feeder cattle meant declining prices, losing all of what the feeder cattle market gained last week.

Slaughter cows are starting their seasonal decline, but prices were able to regain last week's losses. Feeder cattle prices dropped as volume jumped.
