WASHINGTON Fewer Americans bought homes in October, a sign that rising home values may be pushing more would-be buyers to the real estate market's sidelines. The National Association of Realtors said Monday that sales of existing homes fell 3.4 percent last month to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 5.36 million.

The Standard & Poor's/Case-Shiller 20-city home price index rose 5 percent from a year earlier, a slight improvement on May's 4.9 percent increase, according to S&P Dow Jones Indices. Prices rose 10.2 percent in Denver, 9.5 percent in San Francisco and 8.2 percent in Dallas.
Drop in Regina home prices leveling off: realtors association

The recent decline in house prices in Regina and area seems to be tapering off, a new measurement tool has told the Association of Regina Realtors. "We've seen a leveling off and we hope that continues into the fall," Rob Reynar, the association's manager of operations and member services, said Tuesday.
