Proposed ASTM standard WK38734, Test Method for the Determination of Particulate Fluorides and Hydrofluoric Acid Using Filter Sampling and Suppressed Ion Chromatography, will help prevent overexposure to hydrofluoric acid/hydrogen fluoride by workers. Targeting analytical laboratories and field industrial hygienists, standard can be used to measure airborne concentration of gaseous HF and particulate fluorides at levels "well above and below" applicable occupational exposure limits.

The public can now have its say on a proposed line to carry electricity from the Columbia River region across eastern Oregon to western Idaho. Idaho Power is seeking approval for the 500-kilovolt line, which would run 305 miles from Boardman, Oregon, to a substation near Melba, in southwest Idaho.

Proposed standard, ASTM WK22268, Guide for Two-Sample Acceptance and Preference Testing with Consumers, will be the first standard guide to cover issues considered in hedonic product testing. Standard will cover how to establish product’s hedonic status based on sensory attributes alone, rather than brand, positioning, imagery, or other non-sensory aspects. It will be used by people who conduct product testing on food as well as other consumer packaged products.

ASTM International Committee F33 on Detention and Correctional Facilities seeks interested parties to join development of proposed standards for visitation booths in correctional facilities. Standard to be developed by said committee will answer 2 main challenges: creating area capable of allowing meaningful interaction, and making this area secure enough to withstand potential vandalism and other abuse that could result from stressful communications.
