Car emissions significantly below 2015 target

Blue and Green: The average emissions level of a new car sold in 2014 was significantly below the 2015 EU target, according to provisional data from the European Environment Agency. Under plans to cut emissions from transport, the EU set a target for new car emissions to be below 130 grams of carbon dioxide per kilometre by 2015. C.H. Robinson and MIT Develop New Model for Carbon Emissions
2015-04-16 06:01:03| Logistics - Topix.net
With sustainability a topic of significant interest among many in the logistics industry, C.H. Robinson and the MIT Center for Transportation & Logistics have combined to develop research aimed at finding ways to better quantify carbon emissions at the Less-Than-Truckload shipment level. According to the newly completed white paper, "A New Model for Estimating Carbon Emissions from LTL Shipments," the current methods of calculating carbon emissions can be highly inaccurate, and determining emissions for LTL is more challenging than for other types of transportation.

Japan CO2 Emissions Reach Near-Record High After Nuclear Plant Closings
2015-04-15 19:02:00| Climate Ark Climate Change & Global Warming Newsfeed
Yale Environment 360: Japan's carbon dioxide emissions reached their highest levels since 2007 last year, according to a government analysis of data for the year ending in March 2014. Greenhouse gas emissions had been on a downward trend as the country replaced coal and natural gas power stations with nuclear plants. However, all 48 of Japan's nuclear power reactors have been offline since September 2013 the result of rigorous safety checks enacted after the 2011 Fukushima disaster, Reuters reports. The country has...
