Guardian: The first public hearings will take place in the Hague on Tuesday in the first case in the world to use existing human rights and tort law to hold a government responsible for failing to reduce carbon emissions fast enough. The 886 citizens involved in the class action against the Dutch government aim to force it to take more robust action to reduce emissions. Nine months after the carbon price was repealed, the good times are back for some of the most carbon-intensive electricity generators in the developed world. Globe and Mail: She and Environment Minister Glen Murray used the backdrop of Ecobee, a company that has created smart thermostats for households, to announce the government's plan. In the absence of federal direction on the climate-change file, Ontario and Quebec appear to be taking control. By linking with Quebec and California, this will create a carbon market of 61 million people and cover more than 60 per cent of Canada's population. The Globe and Mail first reported Ontario's intentions to adopt a cap-and-trade...
