Hackers exploit Ruby on Rails vulnerability to compromise servers, create botnet

Hackers are actively exploiting a critical vulnerability in the Ruby on Rails Web application development framework in order to compromise Web servers and create a botnet. The Ruby on Rails development team released a security patch for the vulnerability, which is known as CVE-2013-0156, back in January. However, some server administrators haven't yet updated their Rails installations.

Watch Out for Connected Car Hackers, Warns Federal Officials

Its well known that the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and several federal legislators are quite concerned about distracted driving and that connected cars need to be used safely. The benefits of connected car technology are being researched and supported lately by federal officials but theres one risk factor looming on the horizon computer hackers playing games and wreaking havoc on roads. During a recent US Senate hearing NHTSA Administrator David Strickland and committee chair Sen. Jay Rockefeller voiced concerns about the potential danger.
