A Massachusetts state court has confirmed that Sprint Corp can finally begin shutting down its legacy Clearwire WiMAX network this week. According to Fierce Wireless the court has modified its initial November 2015 injunction - which required Sprint to keep its WiMAX network operational in 80 cities until 2 February 2016 - and introduced a phased shutdown instead.

A vacancy for a Senior Lead Integration Engineer Network Security has arisen within Airbus Defence Space in Newport. The successful applicant will join the Network Integration Engineering TCSKT5. This requires the candidate to be highly skilled with proven competence in the field of the design and development of network communications services that are designed for assured and high assured networks. You will have to provide architecture and design skills into bid and project teams proposing and delivering solutions based primarily on COTS applications in Service based solutions and to own the architecture and design activities as technical design authority for their given specialism. The successful candidate will be subject to security clearance in order to undertake related work in accordance with business needs. You have the following tasks and responsibility Acting as a Senior SME for Secure Network Communications, within that scope Devise, create and fully describe the logical and capability based system architectural views Identify the relevant COTS components to achieve these architectural views Contribute to bid and delivery projects through assessment, design and implementation planning of ICT system, whist establishing the requirements on the underlying platforms and security requirements. Identify the essential and innovative approaches for the hosting of 3rd party applications within the security and architectural constrains for a given programme. Design of technical solutions to operate up to IL5 Working with the assigned SSDA to within your SME Scope to Liaising with stakeholders to establish key elements and requirements Preparation of impact analyses of change Provide assessments of technologies used for Support the definition of technology requirements and the selection of security and network technologies in support of the target designs Contribute to planning, description and execution of the configuration, implementation and integration your area within the totality of the solution Own the development of client deliverables such as assessment reports, requirement documents, technical architecture designs, operational procedures, user guides and training plans Organize and document findings of studies, develop proofs of concept and prepare recommendations for implementation of new systems and their operational procedures Workings with a CLAS Consultant identify suitable solutions and technologies to mitigate the security risks. Contribute to the identification of technical and programmatic risks including effective mitigation strategies Ensure system integrity is maintained and that all applicable standards are maintained Working with third party suppliers providing COTS and bespoke system components Act as a lead within the Service Creation Team to develop viable solutions Manage Maintenance Releases through managed change Own the creation of user manuals and training materials to train system developers, maintainers and users Augmenting the delivery Lead Engineer to manage client relationships in delivery phase Contributing to the growth of Airbus business through solution and business development support Mentoring and managing junior team member Being responsible for ensuring that their input and that of any other team members assigned is of the required standard, detail and timeliness. The successful applicant will have the following skills and experience Educated to Degree Level or equivalent ITIL v3 Foundation Skilled with the design of Directory Based Operating Systems Qualified in at least 2 major Network Vendors and one OS vendor e.g. CCNP and Juniper certified, MCSA 2012 would be a plus Membership of a professional body desirable e.g. IET, BCS Essential Exposure of working with a 247 high availability highly secure systems Skillful in identifying design risks. Proven experience of working with at least 1 of the following sectors Defence or UK Central Government Proven experience of designing multivendor complex secure communications and information exchange network interfaces to government grade. Proven experience of development of prototype secure solution within a multidisciplined team whilst providing operational daytoday management and control. Proven experience of working with product vendors ot optimize a solution both for a technical and financial axis. Working knowledge of JSPs , Cabinet Office Technical Design Documents, CESG GPGs, NATO STANAGs Proven experience of bidding for at least 2 and delivery for at least 1of the following customers UK MOD, NATO and Central Government Experience of supporting a formal accreditation or evaluation process Have worked and led small Technical Teams in both a development and delivery role. Knowledge of Enterprise Grade Certificate Services PKI either delivery or utilisation. Desirable Experience of supporting a formal accreditation or evaluation process e.g . ISO 27001, NATO, CAS, CPS Knowledge of formal architecture methods. Demonstration by experience the ability to support all phases of a Technical delivery from initial requirements capture through to inservice operations. Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills Strong presentation skills and ability to present technical information to a business audience Strong interpersonal and team building skills, demonstrated leadership skills Customerfocused Strong personal organization time management, planning, and project coordination skills Demonstrated ability to cover multiple projects Strong in the area of dealing with security evaluation and accreditation issues.
