DISCUS warns of US tariff threat to EU gin, vodka imports

The US spirits industry has attacked proposals to widen import tariffs on European Union alcohol products to include vodka and gin.

The trade association for the US spirits industry has blamed retaliatory tariffs for a sharp slump in American whiskey exports to the European Union.

The dispute involves EU imports from Egypt of glass fiber fabrics, an industrial good used in everything from wind turbines to sports equipment.

In the first quarter of 2020, U.S. pork and pork variety meat exports to Vietnam increased 251% from a year ago to 4,382 metric tons.

The UK Government has failed to heed alcohol industry calls to drop wine tariffs when the Brexit transition period ends at the start of next year.
