Location ECSAT, Harwell, United Kingdom Description SmallSat Technology Coordinator in the Space Segment Section, Technologies and Products Division, Telecommunications Technologies, Products and Systems Department, Directorate of Telecommunications and Integrated Applications. The postholder will report to the Head of the Space Segment Section and will be responsible for the coordination of ARTES CC technology and product activities related to small i.e. pico, nano and micro satellites SmallSat. Duties coordinating the definition, elaboration and maintenance of development roadmaps for technologies and products for SmallSat applications in collaboration with other ESA organisational units as appropriate and contributing to related discussions with manufacturers, system operators and service providers. coordinating the specialised engineering support provided by the Technology and Products Division and other ESA organisational units, in particular the Directorate of Technology, Engineering and Quality Management, for ARTES SmallSat activities. coordinating within the Department as appropriate to ensure that ESAinitiated technology developments targeting SmallSat applications are consistent with the technology development roadmaps. support the ARTES AT Coordinator in the evaluation of SmallSat ideas submitted as candidates for inclusion in the annual ARTES AT work plan and the provision of feedback to the idea proponents, in collaboration with relevant ESA technical experts. identifying the manpower needs to implement the ARTES CC SmallSat activities and coordinating with the line managers for the manpower allocation. coordinating the evaluation of ARTES CG Outline Proposals and provide support in the evaluation of Full Proposals targeting SmallSat applications. managing the provision of inputs to the ARTES CC status reports provided to the national delegations. contributing to the promotion of the ARTES CC programme and the ARTES socioeconomic impact analysis. performing selected duties of a Space Segment Engineer as requested by the Head of Section. Technical competencies Satellite telecommunications including nano, pico and microsatellite systems and constellations Space segment technology, equipment, subsystem design, development and series production techniques relevant to small satellite applications Work with industry and management of large contracts for space segment technology and product development Behavioural competencies Communication Relationship management Responsible decisionmaking Teamwork Problem solving Education Applicants for this post should have a masters degree or equivalent qualification in engineering. A good knowledge of one of these is required. Knowledge of another Member State language would be an asset. The Agency may require applicants to undergo selection tests.
