(Telecompaper) Xiaomi reported slower revenue growth in the first quarter, with sales up 13.6 percent to CNY 49.7 billion. While volumes slowed due to the coronavirus outbreak, the company managed to improve its average selling price thanks a greater focus on premium 5G models and continued expansion in Europe. Gross profit jumped 44.9 percent to CNY 7.56 billion, and adjusted net profit increased 10.6 percent to CNY 10.3 billion.

(Telecompaper) Global tablet shipments fell 8 percent year-on-year in the second quarter to 46.7 million units, while average selling prices increased 9 percent over the same period, according to Strategy Analytics. Advanced tablets, such as the iPad Pro and Microsoft's Surface Pro 4, helped drive the price increase, as consumers and enterprises alike turned to 2-in-1 type devices that offer the features of a real computer. The market researcher estimates that Apple was largest vendor in the period, with a 21.3 percent share of shipments, little changed from a year ago. Samsung's share fell to 13.2 percent, after an estimated fall in shipments to 6.1 million from 8.0 million a year ago.
