Calling time on a global climate deal: Fabius's fuzzy 'consensus'

2015-12-10 20:54:00| Climate Ark Climate Change & Global Warming Newsfeed

Reuters: To conclude a landmark global climate agreement expected to set off a trillion-dollar overhaul of the world's high-carbon energy system, there will be no vote, no show of hands, no acclamation. Instead, the weighty task of officially sealing four years of global negotiations falls to the somewhat subjective judgment of French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius, who will call time on talks as soon as he believes 195 nations have finally reached a "consensus" on how to stop the world from warming....

2015-12-10 20:36:11| Grocery - Topix.net

Online supermarket Ocado saw its shares come under pressure as it revealed a slowdown in trading and dashed hopes once more of a long-awaited international deal. The group shrugged off a "challenging and competitive" market to deliver a 13 per cent rise in fourth quarter gross retail sales to A 351.8 million - its 13th quarter of double-digit growth - but this was lower than expectations and below the 15.3 per cent hike seen in the previous three months.

Still divided, countries join final push for climate deal

2015-12-10 13:19:00| Climate Ark Climate Change & Global Warming Newsfeed

Reuters: Exhausted global climate negotiators resumed wrestling over the language of an agreement on Thursday morning after talks that dragged through the night failed to bridge gaps between rich and developing countries. French Foreign Minister Lauren Fabius, who is chairing the U.N. conference, said he still planned to issue a penultimate draft on Thursday afternoon with as few disagreements or bracketed passages as possible to pave the way for a last round of revisions. "We will now try to move towards...
