MTN South Africa CEO resigns

(Telecompaper) MTN Group announced the resignation of Ahmad Farroukh, CEO of MTN South Africa, effective 31 July. MTN Group CEO Sifiso Dabengwa said the resignation was a difficult decision for Farroukh, but unavoidable for personal and family reasons. Farroukh joined MTN in 2006, with the acquisition of Investcom. He has fulfilled several roles during his tenure with the group, including CEO of MTN Nigeria and a similar role at MTN Ghana. He was also Vice-President of the West and Central Africa (WECA) region. A successor to Farroukh will be announced as soon as the new appointment is finalised, MTN said.

Toyota executive resigns after Japan arrest

TOKYO: Toyota Motor Corp said on Wednesday that Managing Officer Julie Hamp was stepping down, following her arrest last month on suspicion of illegally importing the painkiller oxycodone into Japan. Hamp notified Toyota of her intent to resign and the company has accepted her resignation, Toyota said in a statement.

Julie Hamp, the most senior female executive at Toyota who was arrested in Japan last month on suspicion of drug law violations, has resigned from the company, the automaker said Wednesday. Hamp tendered her resignation Tuesday through her attorneys, according to Toyota Motor Corp. It said the company accepted it because of "the concerns and inconvenience that recent events have caused our stakeholders."
