Railroad Days Provides Up Close Experience With Trains

It's time for the annual celebration of all things train and track. On Saturday, July 11 and Sunday, July 12 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Lauritzen Gardens, The Durham Museum, the Union Pacific Railroad Museum, the RailsWest Railroad Museum and the Historic General Dodge House are coming together to Put Safety First on the Railroad and celebrate our region's rich railroad heritage at Railroad Days.

Multiple railroad crossings in Waukesha to receive repairs

At the order of the Commissioner of Railroads, multiple railroad crossings will be repaired this summer in the city of Waukesha. Repairs on two of the crossings - Main Street and East Avenue - began this week and were expected to reopen on Friday, July 3. Katie Jelacic, project engineer with the city of Waukesha, said the crossings on East Moreland Boulevard, Sunset Drive and Prairie Avenue will be repaired later this summer.

Alaska Railroad Safety Tips

Historically, Fourth of July weekend has been an incident prone weekend for the Alaska Railroad. "We see a lot of 100% preventable incidents so we want to get the message out to folks when they are out and about this summer or holiday weekend- if they see tracks, think train," said manager of external affairs for the Alaska Railroad Tim Sullivan.
