Singtel's Q1 net profit jumps 13% to SGD 942 million

(Telecompaper) Singapore Telecommunications Limited (Singtel) saw its first-quarter net profit grow 13 percent year-on-year to SGD 942 million. In constant currency terms, net profit would have increased 16 percent. The Group recorded a net exceptional gain of SGD 47 million from divestment gains on venture investments and Airtel Africa's tower assets. Excluding exceptional items, underlying net profit for the three months to June grew 2 percent. This would have grown 5 percent on a constant currency basis. The Group's operating revenue rose 2 percent year-on-year to SGD 4.21 billion, while EBITDA slightly decreased by 1 percent. In constant currency terms, operating revenue would have grown by 8 percent and EBITDA by 5 percent.
Lithia's Q2 net jumps 34% on DCH purchase

Lithia Motors Inc.'s second-quarter profit and revenue soared, largely because of its acquisition last year of DCH Auto Group along with improving new- and used-vehicle sales volumes. Lithia's net income surged 34 percent to $51.2 million in the second quarter from a year earlier, as revenue climbed 63 percent to $2 billion, Lithia, of Medford, Ore., said it was helped by a stronger performance in all areas of the business: new vehicles, used vehicles, parts and service, and finance and insurance.

Telstra net profit jumps 21.7% to AUD 2.1 bln in H1

(Telecompaper) Revenue from Australian operator Telstra's mobile business grew by 9.6 percent to AUD 5.3 billion for the six months ended 31 December 2014. Fixed data revenue increased by 7.8 percent, while fixed voice revenue fell 6.9 percent. Overall, revenue from Telstra's fixed business declined 1.7 percent, to AUD 3.5 billion in the 6-month period. Revenue from Telstra's Network Applications and Services (NAS) product line rose 18.1 percent to AUD 1 billion. International NAS revenues increased by 28.1 percent to AUD 41 million.

Cato's net income jumps 16% in Q3

The Cato Corp. says its net income rose 16 percent to $5.7 million, or 20 cents per diluted share, for the fiscal third quarter ended Nov. 1. That's up from income of $4.9 million, or 17 cents per share, for the corresponding period last year.
