Slim Adds $750 Million to Telekom Austria in European Push

Billionaire Carlos Slim is putting an additional $750 million in Telekom Austria AG two years after starting a foray into Europe that has yet to pay off. As part of a 1 billion-euro capital increase by Vienna-based Telekom Austria, Slim will pay 4.57 euros apiece for 132.2 million shares for a total investment of 604 million euros.

Molson Coors swings to US$34-million Q3 loss on charges for European brands

The Molson Coors Brewing Company swung to a US$34.4 million net loss in the third quarter from a US$134 million profit a year ago primarily due to a $360-million impairment charges for two European brands. Excluding one-time items, its adjusted profit reported in U.S. dollars fell 2.7 per cent to $271.5 million.

Price & Pierce acquires GP Harmon Recycling's European trading operations

Price & Pierce , a wholly owned subsidiary of Gould Paper Corp. , headquartered in New York, has acquired the Netherlands-based European trading operation of GP Harmon Recycling LLC, a Georgia-Pacific company. As part of the transaction, Price & Pierce says it has entered into a commercial supply agreement with GP Harmon Recycling that provides Price & Pierce access to recyclable fiber generated in the United States to ensure supply continuity for the company's expanding European customer base.

European Food Safety Authority finds illegal bushmeat imports from Africa carry Ebola risk

Scientists from the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) have found that there is a remote possibility of the spread of the Ebola virus through bushmeat illegally imported from Western and Central Africa.
