Kirkland car dealer to pay $74,000 over misleading mailers

Washington Attorney General Bob Ferguson says Rairdon's Dodge Chrysler Jeep sent out more than 7,000 mailers that mimicked official recall notices. The mailers implied to recipients that there was something wrong with their car and offered to purchase the vehicles.

Plains accused of misleading oil spill victims into signing away rights

Plains All American Pipeline has allegedly been misleading those who seek compensation for losses they incurred following the Refugio oil spill, according to a motion filed in federal court on Dec. 16. The motion asserts that Plains is asking the claimants to forfeit the right to file or take part in any other claim in order to receive payment in the interim. In Plains' settlement agreement and release, it asks the claimant to "RELEASE, ACQUIT and FOREVER DISCHARGE Plains of all claims related to the above-described injuries."

Business lobby says tax data dump 'misleading'

Qantas Airways was the biggest company to pay no tax in the financial year ended June 2014, having reported $14.9 billion in revenue but a record tax loss of $2.84 billion for the year. An unprecedented government data dump on Thursday showed 579 businesses reported an annual turnover of more than $100 million but paid no company tax in the 2014 financial year.
Misleading wireless, internet contract complaints concern telco watchdog

For the first time ever, complaints about wireless service have declined - down eight per cent to 52 per cent of all issues, Canada's telcom watchdog reports. The latest annual report from Canada's Commissioner for Complaints for Telecommunications Services shows that, overall, complaints have fallen 12 per cent, to 9,988.
