(Telecompaper) UK Culture Secretary Karen Bradley has confirmed her intention to refer the planned takeover of broadcaster Sky by 21st Century Fox to the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA). In a statement to MPs, Bradley said she was minded to refer the proposed merger to the CMA for a full six-month investigation on the grounds of media plurality and commitment to broadcasting standards.

Sky launches Spanish OTT service for EUR 10 a month

(Telecompaper) Pay-TV giant Sky has launched its online pay-TV service in Spain. The service is similar to the Now TV-branded OTT service already available in the UK, Ireland, Germany, Austria and Italy, but the Spanish launch marks the first time Sky has entered a market where it has no satellite operation. Sky TV costs EUR 10 a month and gives subscribers access to 12 live channels and an on-demand catalogue of TV series, films and documentaries.
