American Airlines president Scott Kirby said Tuesday that American Airlines is prepared to fly from New York LaGuardia to West Coast cities if allowed to do so. At present, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey has a "perimeter" rule that restricts how far airlines can fly out of the smaller New York airport, and that perimeter excludes transcontinental flights.

Nature causes delays on two Hawaiian Airlines flights

Hawaiian Airlines aircraft experienced two incidents over the weekend - a lightning strike to a Boeing 717 aircraft like the one seen here, on a flight from Hilo to Honolulu, and a bird strike to a Boeing 767 just after taking off from Oakland, California. There were no injuries reported and a spokesperson says neither aircraft suffered damage.

United Airlines sees fit for Boeing 777-300ER planes, not yet 777X

United Airlines has no immediate interest in purchasing 777X aircraft from Boeing Co but instead views the plane's predecessor, the 777-300ER, as a potentially good fit for its network, the carrier's Chief Financial Officer, John Rainey, told Reuters in an interview Monday. While Rainey has said in the past that the 777-300ER interests United, he said on Monday that the aircraft could be a quick fix in markets where United needs additional seats to satisfy demand so customers are not forced to book on United's competitors.
Alaska Airlines to take 'fresh look' at flying to Everett

Alaska Airlines , which tries to distinguish itself with the eight Washington state airports its serves, may be ready to add Everett. In the wake of the Snohomish County Council's three-to-two vote on Monday to approve a contract with a New York company to build a passenger terminal, Alaska Air Group Inc. expressed interest in adding Everett's Paine Field as a destination.
