U.S. Airlines Seek Ban on Gulf Carrier Trips From Outside Region

The biggest U.S. airlines, sparring with three Persian Gulf carriers over flights into the country, have asked the Obama administration to consider new limits on that service, Delta Air Lines Inc.'s chief executive officer said. Regulators could bar the Gulf trio from trips that don't stop or start in the United Arab Emirates or Qatar, CEO Richard Anderson said Wednesday in an interview.

Without conscious support from the business community, Alaska Airlines may finally be absorbed by its much-bigger competitor Delta Air Lines . That would be a huge blow for the Puget Sound-area, in terms of lost revenue, jobs, community contributions, and everything a Seattle-based company like Alaska Air Group brings to the region.

KLM Royal Dutch Airlines postpones direct Edmonton to Amsterdam service

KLM Royal Dutch Airlines has announced a new start date of May 19 for its Edmonton-Amsterdam route, two weeks later than first planned. The new direct flights that were scheduled to start on May 5, but KLM announced late Tuesday they were delayed until further notice.

American Airlines Group shares jump nearly 7 percent after S&P 500 news

American Airlines Group Inc. shares soared 6.9 percent Tuesday, a day after it was announced that the Fort Worth-based company will replace Allergan on the Standard & Poor's 500 index after Friday. American's shares, which closed at $50.22 Monday, opened Tuesday at $52.64.
