HTC reduces losses in Q2, sales up 11% vs Q1

(Telecompaper) HTC narrowed its losses in the second quarter thanks to a continued reduction in costs. The net loss reduced to TWD 2.0 billion from TWD 3.1 billion a year ago, and the operating loss narrowed to TWD 2.2 billion from TWD 4.2 billion.

HTC sales fall 14.5% in Q2, returns to growth in June

(Telecompaper) HTC reported revenues for the second quarter of TWD 16.136 billion, down 14.5 percent from the year earlier period. After double-digit declines in April and May, the smartphone maker returned to annual sales growth in June, with an 8.4 percent increase to TWD 6.891 billion. The company launched its new flagship phone, the U11 in June. The company will report full quarterly results at a later date.

HTC opens VR app store Viveport

(Telecompaper) HTC announced the launch of a new storefront for virtual reality content, called Viveport. Viveport showcases VR experiences across art, creativity tools, design, education, fashion, music, sports, travel and video, to help support VR content creators and increase take-up. The app store is initially available in over 30 countries, and in a special launch offer is selling several titles for just USD 1. Content is available from Everest VR, Google Spotlight Stories' Pearl, Lifeliqe, Stonehenge VR, The Music Room, theBlu and others. HTC said there will be more surprises in the coming days and weeks, including giveaways of unlimited content for selected winners.

HTC expands Desire range with Pro, Lifestyle models

(Telecompaper) HTC has unveiled two new smartphones in its Desire range, the Desire 10 Lifestyle and Desire 10 Pro. The Lifestyle offers a 5.5-inch screen with 720p resolution and a Snapdragon 400 processor, while the Pro offers a full HD screen with MediaTek Helio P10 processor, plus a fingerprint sensor and better cameras. The Lifestyle will launch this month, and the Pro is available from November.
