NREL Offers an Open-Source Solution for Large-Scale Energy Data Collection and Analysis
2013-06-18 06:00:00| Industrial Newsroom - All News for Today
Used on its own campus, NREL's open-source system stores, integrates, and aligns energy-related time-series data. Energy DataBus can collect data from control systems using BACNet protocol, from electrical meters via ModBus protocol, and from weather sensors via web requests to on-site weather station. Suitable for single buildings as well as large campuses, software can store large amounts of data collected at high frequencies, and integrate data into single database. NREL Teams with Navy, Private Industry to Make Jet Fuel from Switchgrass
2013-06-06 06:00:00| Industrial Newsroom - All News for Today
As one of 4 biorefinery projects funded recently by Energy Department, NREL is partnering with Cobalt Technologies, U.S. Navy, and Show Me Energy Cooperative to demonstrate that jet fuel can be made economically and in large quantities from renewable biomass feedstock such as switchgrass. Results will help determine whether process is ready for commercial scale. If so, U.S. Department of Agriculture and Department of Defense are poised to help private firms build requisite biorefineries.
