EPA, in partnership with White House Council on Environmental Quality, will announce opening of the application period for 2014-2015 Presidential Innovation Award for Environmental Educators. Award recognizes outstanding K-12 teachers who employ innovative approaches to environmental education and use environment as a context for student learning. Up to 2 teachers from each of EPA's 10 regions will be selected to receive award. Applications will be accepted through March 13, 2015.

GRCC hosting open houses for manufacturing partnership that pairs students with businesses

Grand Rapids Community College is hosting two open houses next month for a job training program that pairs eligible students with West Michigan manufacturers. The open houses for GRCC's Advanced Manufacturing Partnership are scheduled for 5:30-8 p.m. February 5 at Steelcase's wood plant, 4100 68th St. SE in Kentwood, and February 9 at Herman Miller, 855 E. Main Ave. in Zeeland from 5:30-8 p.m. Under the college's Advanced Manufacturing Partnership , eligible students work part time for a participating manufacturer and attend GRCC part-time to learn more about the field they're now working in.
