Al Jazeera: Protests in the southern Bangladesh province of Khulna have forced the postponement of government plans to build a coal-fired power station near the world's biggest mangrove swamp. Campaigners insist on use of clean energy, arguing that the mangrove swamp, which is a World Heritage site, will be damaged by the smoke, ash and noise from the power plant. Protesters disrupt Energy East Pipeline hearings in Quebec

Quebec's environmental hearings into the Energy East Pipeline project got off to a difficult start Monday evening, as protesters chanted and disrupted proceedings seconds after the company's vice-president began speaking. Joseph Zayed, with Quebec's environmental regulation agency, was forced to temporarily suspend the hearings as protesters snuck into the audience room, unfurled a banner denouncing the pipeline and sang songs to try and silence the presenter.

Just as Louis Bergeron, Energy East's vice-president for New Brunswick and Quebec, began speaking this evening, protesters started chanting and unfurled a banner in front of members of Quebec's environmental regulation agency. The agency was supposed to begin hearings this evening into the project in order to conduct an environmental assessment of the risks and benefits and produce a report to the province's environment minister.

Protesters disrupt logistics town hall meeting in San Bernardino

The meeting, held in the college's business conference center, was organized by Assemblywoman Cheryl R. Brown, D-San Bernardino, who's running for re-election, and attended by seven state Assembly members and Congresswoman Norma Torres, D-Pomona. As Redlands-based economist John Husing - a long-time advocate of the logistics industry - was speaking, a group of about 30 people began chanting outside the meeting room.
