Newell Rubbermaid shares could climb 20 pct or more in next year -Barron's

Jan 24 Shares of Newell Rubbermaid , the maker of Sharpie markers and Parker pens, could rise 20 percent or more over the next year as the company reaps the benefits of its announced acquisition of Jarden Corp, Barron's said in its latest edition. Shares of Newell have fallen 19 percent since the company announced last month it would purchase Jarden, but Jarden could end up improving Newell's revenue growth and provide more savings opportunities, Barron's said.

Jan 21 European car sales growth is likely to slow to about 2 percent in 2016 after a sharp recovery in southern nations last year, the European Automobile Manufacturers Association said on Thursday. ACEA President Dieter Zetsche, who is also chief executive of Daimler, said the market was moving in the right direction after several rocky years following the 2008 financial crisis, but that sales remained below the 2007 pre-crisis peak of 15.5 million cars.

Thailand industry auto sales seen down 10 pct in 2016 - Toyota

Jan 21 Thailand's total domestic car sales are expected at 720,000 in 2016, down 10 percent from 2015, Toyota Motor Corp's Thai unit said on Thursday. Toyota, which commands about a third of the Thai market, sees a 9.8 percent fall from 2015 in its annual automotive sales in the Southeast Asian nation to 240,000 in 2016, it said at a news conference.

J&J cuts medical device division workforce by 4 to 6 pct
