Google inks smart home cooperation deal with ADT

(Telecompaper) Google has announced a multi-year smart home cooperation deal with ADT, the provider of security and alarm systems, under which it will buy a 6.6 percent stake in the company for USD 450 million. As part of the agreement, ADT's 20,000 technicians will sell and install Google devices like Nest Cameras and Nest Hub Max, powered by Google Assistant. Nest devices, powered by Google's machine learning capabilities, will also enhance ADT's security monitoring and become the cornerstone of ADT's smart home offering.

Telenet starts talks with Fluvius on FTTH cooperation in Flanders

(Telecompaper) Belgian cable operator Telenet has started talks with the energy group Fluvius on working together to roll out FTTH in Flanders. Fluvius already started its own initiative in several cities to build a fibre network, while Telenet has upgraded its cable network to Docsis 3.1 with gigabit speeds. The companies said they expect the negotiations to last until 2021 and will not make any further statements until then.

Telenor and Cisco expand cooperation, agree finance from Digital Alpha for Working Group Two

(Telecompaper) Telenor Group and Cisco have announced a joint purpose agreement (JPA) concerning activities such as security, 5G, Open vRAN, B2B expansion, distributed cloud, and extending Telenor's digital transformation to support flexible working. The JPA also covers more financing for their Working Group Two (WG2) joint venture to enable growth, global operations and new uses for 5G, IoT and private networks. WG2 has been added to the Cisco General Price List and will be part of DevNet.
