Nexus 9 tablet unveiled: 4:3 screen, 64-bit Tegra, Android 5.0, and no micro SD slot

Google has unveiled the Nexus 9, an HTC-made tablet that will run Android 5.0 Lollipop. Curiously, there's an 8.9-inch 2048x1536 display -- 4:3 aspect ratio, rather than the customary 16:9 -- and also BoomSound dual front-facing speakers. Inside the Nexus 9, of course, there's Nvidia's 64-bit Tegra K1 SoC. Pricing starts at $400 for the 16GB model, and it'll arrive in stores (in the US) starting November 3.

While older and generic tablets can often be had on the cheap, well spec'd devices rocking the latest Android 4.4 and backed by a respected brand are much harder to find in the bargain bin. Right now Dell is slashing a hefty sum off their 1080p 8-inch Venue as well as a colorful red version of their smaller 7-inch Venue, dropping them each to the lowest price we've seen.
